Richmond lawyer Jasmin Dhillon has agreed to a six-week suspension for professional misconduct, commencing on December 20, 2024.
Dhillon admitted in a consent agreement that between 2020 and 2022, she failed to maintain proper trust accounting records, caused trust shortages on more than 13 occasions by improperly withdrawing client’s funds when her trust accounting records were not current or there were insufficient client funds on deposit, and failed to report multiple shortages greater than $2,500. In addition, Dhillon backdated multiple trust reconciliations to mislead the Law Society and provided false answers on her trust report.
In accepting the consent agreement, the Law Society took into consideration inter alia, an Agreed Statement of Facts, a letter from Dhillon containing her consent agreement proposal and the outcomes in prior cases.
