Former lawyer Marc Andre Eckardt (Scheirer) has been disbarred from practising law in BC for a second time for professional misconduct. The hearing panel also ordered Eckardt to pay costs of $9,394.06.
The hearing panel found that Eckardt sexually harassed his client with unwelcome comments, unwelcome advances and unwelcome physical contact, and that his conduct constituted professional misconduct.
In their decision to disbar Eckardt, the panel considered the extremely serious nature of the conduct, his lack of remorse and his lengthy professional conduct record, which includes several undertakings limiting his practise of law and two prior citations, both of which resulted in findings of professional misconduct relating to inappropriate and offensive behaviour towards female clients.
