About the Lawyer Directory

The Law Society endeavours to keep its Lawyer Directory as up-to-date as possible. However, the information contained may not be the most current information available.

The Lawyer Directory pulls information from the Law Society databases regularly. A lawyer's status can change at any time. Contact Registration and Licensee Services to ensure you have complete, up-to-date information.

The Lawyer Directory includes discipline history information from 1989 onwards only. If you are interested in the discipline history of a lawyer in BC prior to 1989, contact the Law Society.

Hearing decisions that are anonymized pursuant to the Law Society Rules or a request from a third party do not identify individual lawyers. As a result, these decisions are not tied to lawyers' profiles in the Lawyer Directory.

The Lawyer Directory includes the names of former members for a period of two years from the date the lawyer ceased to be a member. The names of disbarred members are included indefinitely. To confirm details about a former or disbarred member of the Law Society, such as the location of files, contact the Law Society. The Lawyer Directory also includes information about retired lawyers (non-practising members who have practised law at least 20 of the past 25 years) and non-practising lawyers.

The unauthorized practitioners database provides a list of all unauthorized practitioners since September 2003, including related court documents: search the unauthorized practitioners database.

Your use of the Lawyer Directory is governed by and subject to the Terms of Use. You should check the Terms of Use from time to time to keep informed of any changes or additions.
