The Law Society of BC is seeking a permanent, full-time Senior Support Specialist in our Information Services department. The Senior Support Specialist is responsible for providing timely, effective second and third level technical support to Law Society staff, and with other Information Services staff, for the efficient identification and resolution of technical problems with the Law Society’s information technology infrastructure, while ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance and security. 

The duties of this position include:        

  • Managing and monitoring all installed systems and infrastructure.
  • Providing tier 2 and 3 technical support for the computer, network, mobility, and VoIP systems. 
  • Researching and resolving problems escalated by a Support Technician, or as directed by the Assistant Network Manager or Network Manager, Information Services. 
  • Analyzing, troubleshooting and resolving system hardware, software, networking, and VoIP issues.
  • Installing, configuring, testing, optimizing, monitoring and maintaining servers and services including: Linux, Microsoft Windows Server, MS-Exchange, MS-SQL, Business Central, and Microsoft IIS and Adobe ColdFusion, and OpenText eDOCS, and VMware ESXi, vCenter, Horizon and Workspace One, and IPro Eclipse Case Management, and RSA SecurID and SIEM.
  • Conducting server builds and coordinating and performing application, server and system migrations. 
  • Configuring, managing and maintaining: user accounts, network permissions and security (anti-virus, anti-malware, SPAM prevention, firewalls, intrusion prevention and detection, and SIEM), databases, backups and recoveries, and LAN/WAN, VPN, VoIP, and Wi-Fi networks, and cloud based servers and services. 
  • Configuring, securing and maintaining integration of on premise infrastructure with Cloud based services (AWS, Azure)
  • Planning and integrating new technology, applications and services with existing infrastructure. Liaising with application developers and other members of the Information Services team, service providers and vendors.
  • Mentoring Support Technicians on software, hardware, and VoIP problem analysis and resolution. 
  • Providing coverage for other members of the department during absences.
  • Such other duties as the Assistant Network Manager or Network Manager may require.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field or 5+ years of computer and network experience. 
  • Comprehensive understanding of TCP/IP networks, VoIP, VMWare, and Microsoft and Linux based operating systems. 
  • Working knowledge of cloud-based services, more specifically Azure and AWS. 
  • Adept with a wide range of applications, particularly administrative tools, scripting, and database administration. 
  • Proven capacity to analyze problems and convey solutions in non-technical terms. 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. 
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team. 

The salary range for this position is $88,387 to $101,829.
