PLTC Instructor (14-Month Term)

Our Professional Legal Training Course department is seeking a temporary, full-time Instructor with the term ending on December 31, 2025. The PLTC Instructor is responsible for teaching the PLTC curriculum and assisting with curriculum development.

The duties of this position include:

  • Teaching the PLTC curriculum, including teaching classes, grading assignments, carrying out and grading assessments and participating in panels.  
  • Evaluating and providing feedback on student entry-level competence for licensing purposes.
  • Assisting with curriculum development by designing and creating lesson plans, exercises, assignments, assessments and assessment tools, and examinations.
  • Such other duties as the Deputy Director, PLTC may require.

Qualifications

  • Membership in good standing with the Law Society of BC or eligibility for membership.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant practice experience. 
  • Teaching experience required.
  •  Knowledge and experience of lawyering skills, the practice and procedure in general practice areas, ethics and law office management. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team member. 
  • Superior writing and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft office tools. 
  • Experience and ease with online learning platforms, virtual classroom tools and other software required to carry out the duties remotely as needed.

The terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the Law Society of BC and the Professional Employees Association apply to this position. 

The salary range for this position is $133,403.30 to $161,653.86.
