Our Investigations, Monitoring and Enforcement (“IME”) group is seeking a permanent, full-time Manager. In keeping with the Law Society’s mandate to protect the public interest, the IME team conducts investigations into serious conduct issues that, if proven, are likely to result in a disciplinary outcome. The Manager, IME will report to the Deputy Chief Legal Officer and be responsible for leading part of the IME group. 

The duties of this position include:

  • Providing leadership, guidance and direction to IME staff, including hiring, training, managing, supporting, and supervising staff;
  • Instructing and overseeing the conduct of investigations by external counsel;
  • Ensuring effective processes for conducting investigations in a fair and timely manner;
  • Conducting a reasonable caseload of complaint investigation files;
  • Working closely with the Chief Legal Officer, the Deputy Chief Legal Officer and others on strategic regulatory initiatives and policy matters as needed;
  • Collaborating with other Law Society departments;
  • Supporting the Director, Intake & Early Resolution and Practice Standards and the Deputy Chief Legal Officer, as necessary, including coverage for absences; and
  • Other duties as the Deputy Chief Legal Officer may require.
Qualifications
  • Practicing status with the Law Society of BC, with a minimum of ten years of relevant experience, including regulatory experience conducting investigations. Prior experience leading a team is an asset.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Legal Profession Act, the Law Society Rules and the Code of Professional Conduct for British Columbia.
  • Superior judgement and analytical abilities coupled with effective communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management and attention to detail.

The salary range for this position is $168,010 to $182,620.
